BEGINNER PISTOL

* Meets the State requirement for a Safe Gun Handling class on the CCW application.

This class is given several times weekly and is a must for responsible NJ firearms owners.

PURPOSE:
This course is intended for BEGINNERS with little or no experience, who wish to learn to properly operate and safely handle a semi-automatic pistol and to understand and apply the concepts of marksmanship.

The successful candidate will receive a Beginner Pistol Class Completion Certificate.

This class is offered in english, spanish and for women only.


AREAS OF FOCUS:
•    Firearm safety

•    Ammunition malfunctions
•    Identification of parts of pistols and their proper operation
•    Grip and stance fundamentals;
•    Proper sight alignment and sight picture
•    Marksmanship

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: (bring your own or rent one of our bundles)
•    Pistol (semi-automatic).    
•    50 rds of ammunition.            
•    Eye and Ear protection.

TUITION:
$150.00 per individual student
$  75.00 equipment bundle if needed (pistol, 50 rounds of ammo, eye and ear protection, targets)

COURSE LENGTH:
3.5 hours  (2.5 hrs in classroom, includes 20 question multiple choice exam, 1 hr in range, includes shooting qualification)

On class day, student must arrive 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork and to select firearm, if renting ours.
 
PARTICIPANTS:
 Minimum 4 Maximum 7

(Classes will only run if minimum amount of students is met.)

PREREQUISITES:
No previous classes needed to register.

GRADING POLICY:

Please note:  Each student must correctly answer no fewer than 15 of 20 questions on the classroom exam to be admitted into the shooting ranges.  

Any student not meeting this standard will receive immediate remedial help from their instructor(s).  After reviewing the incorrect answers with their instructor(s), they will be able to take the exam a second time.

If the student does not achieve a passing grade again, they will not proceed into the practical shooting portion on
the range with their classmates. 

To complete their certification, students will have the opportunity to take the entire class once more, free of charge.

However, to do so, the student will be required to schedule the retake before leaving, otherwise forfeit any rights to complete the class.

If the student is unable to pass the classroom exam the third time, they will be disqualified from the class and must allow at least six months to pass before registering for and paying for the class again.

 

There are no reimbursements for students who do not pass the written or practical exams.
